Teaching and training programs
Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology has been providing training to Ophthalmologists and Ophthalmic Assistants since last 20 years. So far about 360 Ophthalmic Assistants and 45 Ophthalmologists were trained. Our training programs have been enhanced to meet the current demand and we are offering the following training programs. Those who are interested to know about the availability of the training programs and further details can be obtained either by e-mail or by telephone.
Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology has received accreditation by National Board of Examinations (NBE) to train postgraduates in ophthalmology for D.N.B degree. There are two seats every year for D.N.B. program. Interested candidates can get more information from,www.natboard.edu.in
The following programs are offered at Srikiran Institute of Ophthalmology:
1. Comprehensive Ophthalmology followed by training in Phaco.
This program is designed to develop the skills of the recently completed postgraduates in ophthalmology in clinical knowledge in comprehensive ophthalmology, Small Incision cataract surgery, and rotation in various specialties of ophthalmology. After the initial training for 15 months Phaco training will be also provided to the candidates if they are interested.
Qualifications – MS /DNB/DO should be completed at the time of application
Duration – 18 months
Frequency – Whenever vacancies available
2. Short term medical retina training programme
The program is oriented to train candidates in diagnosis, investigations and treatment of common retinal disorders. The candidates will be trained hands-on in slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, slit lamp laser delivery and B-scan. They will be trained in interpretation of fundus fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography. Observation of Intravitreal injections, management of endophthalmitis and retinal surgeries.
Qualifications – MS /DNB/DO should be completed at the time of application
Duration – 6 weeks
Frequency – Starts on 1st of every month
3. Long term medical retina and anterior segment fellowship
The program is oriented to train candidates in diagnosis, investigations and treatment of retinal disorders and in cataract surgery. The candidates will be trained hands-on in slit-lamp biomicroscopy, indirect ophthalmoscopy, slit lamp and indirect laser delivery, B-scan, fundus fluorescein angiography, optical coherence tomography, Intravitreal injections, management of endophthalmitis. They will be trained in small incision cataract surgery and various procedures like cryopexy, YAG laser etc.
Qualifications – MS /DNB/DO should be completed at the time of application
Duration – 18 months
